The year of 2011 is held under a significant event in the world sports history – on December 22nd, 2011 our National Hockey will celebrate its 65th Anniversary!

We’ve started to count our hockey history since the year of 1946 when the first National Championship of USSR has started with the games in Moscow, Leningrad, Riga, Kaunas and Arkhangelsk, and the players from “Dynamo” Moscow became the first Champions afterwards.

During the years that have passed since that time the history of the most popular kind of sport in our country has gained a lot of victories – National Teams of USSR and Russia have become World Champions 25 times, Olympic Champions – 8 times, they have also won a great number of  prizes and cups in all possible competitions of the Old and the New World. The national ice-hockey school has entered the history of the world sport as an example of the classical training of sportsmen and champions that gave great players and coaches to the world. Besides all the famous names that can be remembered   for 65 years of our hockey, the names of the modern players will be also included into the national hockey history. It goes without saying that this is the Championship of the National Team that was gained two times in a row after a 15-years break, gold medals of the World Championship among Young Players that were brought from the USA by Russian National Team this year, and this is also the increased level of skills of the young generation of hockey players.

This date, December 22nd should be remembered by everyone who is connected with the hockey in this or that way – no matter if they’re coaches, players, functionaries or just the admirers of this wonderful kind of sport, - and also to remember the names of the people who created this history.

Russian Ice-Hockey Federation launches a great campaign of celebrating of 65th Anniversary of the National Hockey that will have enough space for the memorable tournaments and events, literary historical reviews and interviews with the legends of our hockey. And this year we will be especially waiting for the gifts from our National Teams in the form of medals from all the tournaments.
